LUCANIA. Thourioi. Circa 410-400 BC. Distater (Silver, 26 mm, 15.78 g, 4 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing helmet adorned, on the bowl, with Skylla raising her left hand as if to shade her eyes as she looks off in the distance, and on the neck guard, with a griffin springing right. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ Bull butting to right; on its hind quarter, [VE]; in exergue, two fish to right. HN Italy 1807. Noe, Thurian B8. A bold and beautiful coin of very fine style. The tip of Athena's nose off flan and with very light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
